Master's Program in Nursing (M.Kep)

Overview

The Master of Nursing Program at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, was established in 2008 based on Rector’s Decree No. 4311/J03/OT/2008. The program offers four areas of specialization: Medical-Surgical Nursing, Community Nursing, Mental Health Nursing, and Nursing Management. The curriculum is designed in accordance with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), with a total study load of 43 credits to be completed within three semesters.

The teaching and learning methods employed in the Master of Nursing Program include facilitated discussions, group discussions, simulations, case studies, collaborative and cooperative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, and other instructional approaches that effectively support the achievement of graduate learning outcomes. These methods emphasize a Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approach. Additional learning modalities include online learning platforms such as e-learning systems, Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), and other digital tools. Currently, the program adopts a blended learning approach, combining both face-to-face (offline) and online learning.

The learning process is conducted both on campus and in clinical practice settings. Practice sites include hospitals, primary healthcare centers (puskesmas), health offices, and social care institutions. Several affiliated practice sites include Dr. Soetomo General Hospital Surabaya, Universitas Airlangga Hospital Surabaya, partner hospitals abroad, Menur Mental Hospital Surabaya, UPTD Griya Werdha Jambangan Surabaya, and primary healthcare centers under the Surabaya City Health Office.

The Master of Nursing Program has been accredited with an “A” rating (Excellent) based on Decree No. 0221/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Mag/IV/2018. In 2019, the program initiated the process of applying for international accreditation with the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics/Computer Science, the Natural Sciences and Mathematics (ASIIN).
