NERS NEWS – Students from the professional nursing practice groups C2 Delivery Room and C7 Irna Obgyn of Universitas Airlangga Hospital conducted a Hospital Health Promotion (PKRS) activity on postpartum danger signs on Friday, February 27, 2026, in the waiting area of the Irna Obgyn ward at Universitas Airlangga Hospital. This activity was attended by postpartum mothers and patients’ families to improve their knowledge and awareness of potential dangers during the postpartum period.
This PKRS activity was carried out in the form of a health education session discussing various danger signs during the postpartum period, such as excessive bleeding, high fever, severe abdominal pain, foul-smelling vaginal discharge, and swelling in the legs that may indicate complications. The material was delivered directly using leaflet media and interactive discussions so that participants could better understand the information provided and had the opportunity to ask questions related to maternal health after childbirth.
This activity was organized by nursing practice students from group C2 Delivery Room and C7 Irna Obgyn under the supervision of healthcare professionals at Universitas Airlangga Hospital. The education session was conducted on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 09:00 AM in the waiting room of the Irna Obgyn ward of Universitas Airlangga Hospital and was attended by several postpartum mothers and patients’ family members who were waiting for healthcare services.
The implementation of this PKRS activity aimed to increase the knowledge of postpartum mothers and their families regarding danger signs during the postpartum period so that they can recognize symptoms of complications early and seek medical assistance promptly. This education is important because the postpartum period is a vulnerable time for various maternal health complications. Through this activity, it is expected that mothers and families will play an active role in maintaining maternal health after childbirth and preventing more serious complications.
This educational activity is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely:
SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, particularly in efforts to improve maternal health and reduce maternal mortality by increasing knowledge about postpartum danger signs.
SDG 4 – Quality Education, through providing health education to the community so that they have a better understanding of maternal health after childbirth.
Through this PKRS activity, it is hoped that postpartum mothers and their families will better understand danger signs after childbirth and can take appropriate action promptly. This activity also represents the contribution of students and institutions in increasing public health awareness and supporting the achievement of SDGs in the health sector.
