NERS NEWS — Thursday, March 12, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga organized a Khotmil Qur’an activity as part of its Ramadan program series on Thursday, March 12, 2026. This event served as a meaningful moment for the academic community to strengthen spiritual values, foster brotherhood, and enhance togetherness during the holy month of Ramadan. The activity involved all members of the academic community, including faculty leaders, lecturers, administrative staff, and students. Participants’ enthusiasm was evident through their active participation in every part of the program, including Qur’an recitation, shalawat chanting, and attentively listening to the tausiyah. The event took place in the Florence Nightingale Room, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga. Interactions throughout the activity created a warm atmosphere and strengthened relationships among individuals within the academic environment.
The Khotmil Qur’an activity began with the recitation and completion of the Qur’an (khataman), which was followed solemnly by all participants. The religious atmosphere was further enriched by a banjari sholawat performance, enhancing both devotion and a sense of togetherness among the academic community. The series of events continued with a tausiyah delivered by K.H. Aunur Rochim. In his sermon, he emphasized, “The virtue of attending a gathering of knowledge is greater than performing funeral prayers for one hundred deceased individuals, because seeking knowledge is an individual obligation (fardhu ‘ain) that will be held accountable before Allah SWT. Moreover, if one does not attend a gathering of knowledge for forty days, the heart may become hardened and wrongful acts become easier to commit.” This message provided spiritual reinforcement as well as motivation for participants to continuously maintain closeness to knowledge and religious values.
The Khotmil Qur’an activity concluded with the congregational Maghrib prayer, followed by a communal iftar with the entire academic community. This moment not only marked the formal closing of the event but also symbolized togetherness and gratitude for the successful implementation of the program. Through this activity, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga hopes to cultivate a spirit of unity, strengthen faith, and build a harmonious and blessed academic environment. In addition, this activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), by fostering a peaceful and inclusive environment grounded in mutual respect.
