NERS NEWS – Friday, (11/11/2022), a group of students who are members of the Children’s Stase E group of the Professional Education Study Program, Faculty of Nursing UNAIR conducted health counseling to patient families at the UNAIR Hospital Pediatric Clinic regarding febrile seizures in children.
This counseling was attended by families of patients in the Pediatric Clinic of UNAIR Hospital, accompanied by a supervisor from the clinic. Enthusiastic for information on pediatric seizures, from definitions, causes and treatments. They listened carefully and gave very positive feedback. This relates to the importance of proper management of seizures. Handling that can be done when a child has a seizure while at home is to stay calm, make sure the child is safe, tilt the child’s body to facilitate breathing, do not put anything in the mouth and observe the seizure.
Families of patients who are curious and confused are given the facility to ask questions and share stories as well as have a brief consultation. Our hope as young nurses is that this counseling can be useful for the community and can be applied to everyday life.
