NERS NEWS – In an effort to improve research quality and mental preparedness for final-year students, an innovative Seminar Proposal (Sempro) rehearsal session was held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at the Dorothea Orem Room, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga. Wiga Farencia, a nursing student from the Class of 2022, presented her thesis proposal before an audience of both undergraduate (S1) and postgraduate (S2) nursing students.

Cross-Generational Audience Collaboration

What made this rehearsal particularly unique was the diverse composition of the audience. Wiga was not only evaluated by her peers but also received critical feedback from various academic levels: Postgraduate students provided deeper theoretical perspectives, sophomore and junior undergraduate students attended to gain early insights into the research process, and Ira Suarilah, S.Kp., M.Sc., Ph.D., served as the supervising lecturer to ensure material accuracy.

Rigorous and Interactive Simulation

The session began with a formal opening by the moderator, who established rules in accordance with official examination standards. Wiga was given 15 minutes to effectively outline her research plan.

Following the presentation, the atmosphere became dynamic as the session moved into a discussion phase. The multi-level audience actively engaged by asking sharp questions and providing constructive suggestions. The involvement of postgraduate students added a new dimension to methodological enrichment, while the presence of younger students created a collaborative learning ecosystem.

A Mission Toward Impactful Research

This simulation-based learning method is more than just public speaking practice. The adaptation of this method serves a strategic purpose: ensuring that prospective nursing graduates are capable of drafting final projects that are methodologically sound, systematically presented, and impactful for the health sector.

This rehearsal serves as a crucial medium to ensure that every piece of research originating from this faculty is of accountable quality. With thorough preparation and support across academic levels, Wiga is expected to undergo her official Proposal Seminar with optimal results, while simultaneously motivating other students to complete their studies promptly.
