The Specialist Program in Medical-Surgical Nursing at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, was established based on the Decree of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (LAM-PTKes) No. 0001/LAM-PTKes/Akr PSB.PTN-BH/Spe/I/2020 and Rector’s Decree No. 38/UN3/2020. The program achieved “Excellent” accreditation in 2025 from LAM-PTKes under Decree No. 0308/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Spe/III/2025.
The Specialist Program in Medical-Surgical Nursing offers four areas of specialization: Emergency Nursing, Anesthesia Nursing, Operating Room Nursing, and Critical Care Nursing.
The curriculum implemented in this program is developed based on the standards set by the Medical-Surgical Nursing Collegium, with input from the Indonesian National Nurses Association (PPNI) and the Indonesian Anesthesia Nurses Association (HIPANI), and further adapted in accordance with Universitas Airlangga policies. The curriculum follows the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI), with a total study load of 46 credits.
Teaching and learning methods include clinical practice in specialization areas, group discussions, simulations, case studies, collaborative learning, cooperative learning, project-based learning, problem-based learning, and other instructional approaches that effectively support the achievement of learning outcomes.
Learning activities are conducted in various clinical settings, including Dr. Soetomo General Hospital, Universitas Airlangga Hospital, and partner hospitals abroad.
