Inbound Students’ Visit to Puskesmas Kalijudan as a Form of Community Healthcare Service Learning

NERS NEWS — On Thursday, May 21, 2026, the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Airlangga conducted a field visit activity with inbound students as part of a learning program regarding community healthcare services in Indonesia. The activity began at 07.30 WIB with the pickup of inbound students from their hotel, accompanied by lecturers and Student Ambassadors who guided the group to Puskesmas Kalijudan. The activity was also accompanied by lecturers from the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Airlangga as a form of academic supervision throughout the visit.

The visit took place from 08.00 to 11.00 WIB with the main agenda focusing on community visits and community development at Puskesmas Kalijudan. Upon arrival, the group received a warm welcome from the health center staff, who then provided an explanation regarding the healthcare service system at the community health center. During the session, inbound students received information regarding patient service flow, administrative systems, and various public health programs implemented by the health center to comprehensively and continuously serve the community.

After the presentation session concluded, the activity continued with a tour around the health center area to directly observe the facilities and various service rooms available. The students visited several service units, including the general examination room, maternal and child health room, pharmacy room, and medical treatment room while receiving explanations regarding the functions of each area. In addition, the group also conducted visits to the local community area or neighborhood unit (RW) to directly observe community-based healthcare services. During the visit, students were able to witness the process of community health examinations and observe how healthcare workers provided services to residents using communicative and humanistic approaches.

After the entire series of activities was completed, the group returned to the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Airlangga for rest and lunch together. This activity became a valuable learning experience for inbound students because it provided a real overview of primary healthcare services and community development in Indonesia. Furthermore, this activity is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, which focuses on improving public health and well-being through quality, inclusive, and accessible healthcare services for all levels of society.
