NERS NEWS – Nursing professional students conducted a health education activity with the theme “The Importance of Personal Hygiene to Improve Self-Cleanliness in Post-Operative Patients in the Obgyn HCU Room at RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya.” This activity was intended for patients and patients’ families in the Obgyn HCU Room at RSUD Dr. Soetomo Surabaya using poster media as an educational tool.
This educational activity was supervised by Kartika Rini as the clinical supervisor and Esti Yunitasari as the academic supervisor. The material presented included the importance of personal hygiene for post-operative patients, such as bathing or sponge bathing, brushing teeth, maintaining nail hygiene, washing hands, and maintaining genital hygiene.
Through this educational session, patients and their families were informed that personal hygiene plays an important role in maintaining body cleanliness, improving comfort, preventing infection, and supporting the recovery process after surgery. Participants were also educated on how to perform proper and safe personal hygiene practices according to the patient’s condition.
The activity was conducted in an orderly manner and received positive attention from both patients and their families. The poster media helped participants understand the information more easily. It is hoped that after this educational session, patients and their families will be able to apply personal hygiene practices in daily care so that the cleanliness of post-operative patients can be maintained and the recovery process can proceed more optimally.
