During the activity, the students delivered educational materials regarding the definition of pneumonia, its causes, risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, and preventive measures that can be implemented from an early stage. The education was also complemented by demonstrations of the six proper handwashing steps and cough and sneeze etiquette as efforts to prevent the spread of respiratory tract infections in children. In addition, participants were provided with leaflets as supporting media so that the information obtained could be understood and applied in daily life.

This activity involved Group C2 Class A2 Wave 2 Nursing Clinical Practice students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, targeting the parents of patients in the waiting area of the RSUA Pediatric Outpatient Clinic. This PKRS activity was carried out as an effort to improve family health literacy in preventing infectious diseases in children, particularly pneumonia, which remains one of the health concerns among the pediatric population. Through health education, it is hoped that parents can play an active role in prevention and early detection so that the risk of complications caused by pneumonia can be minimized. This activity also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through the improvement of child health, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the dissemination of health education to the community, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaboration between educational institutions and healthcare facilities.
