NERS NEWS — Professional Nursing Program students of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Batch B27 conducted a Group Activity Therapy (TAK) activity titled “Question Ball Socialization: The First Step to Building Togetherness” in Puri Anggrek Ward at Rumah Sakit Menur on Friday, June 19, 2026.
The implementation of TAK began at 08:00 WIB with a communicative and participatory approach. Patients were invited to participate in a question ball game, an activity aimed at training socialization skills, communication skills, increasing confidence in speaking, and building a sense of togetherness within the group. The ball was thrown alternately to each participant while music was playing. When the music stopped, the patient holding the ball was asked to take one question card and answer it in front of the group members. The questions given were simple questions, such as mentioning their name, hobbies, favorite food, and preferred activities. This activity was also under the clinical supervision of Ika Febriyanti, S.Kep., Ns. and academic supervisor Rizki Fitryasari P.K., S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep.
During the activity, most patients showed enthusiasm and were able to follow instructions well. Some patients appeared active in answering questions, making eye contact, and began to interact with other group members. Patients who initially appeared shy or passive gradually began to show courage to speak after receiving support from facilitators and other group members.
The TAK activity supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which are part of the university’s commitment to supporting sustainable development. This activity directly contributes to Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being, particularly in efforts to improve mental health through psychosocial therapy that helps patients with mental disorders develop communication skills, social interaction, self-confidence, and reduce social isolation.
Through this activity, interactions among group members appeared to improve. Patients seemed to listen to one another when others were speaking, gave applause as a form of appreciation, and showed mutual respect. The therapy atmosphere was conducive, enjoyable, and full of enthusiasm, creating an environment that supported the patients’ socialization process.
