NERS NEWS — On Friday, July 17, 2026, at 9:00 a.m., a health education session entitled “Understanding and Preventing Gestational Diabetes Mellitus” was conducted in the waiting area of the Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob-Gyn) Clinic at Universitas Airlangga Hospital. The activity was intended for patients and their family members awaiting medical services at the clinic, with the aim of increasing their knowledge about gestational diabetes mellitus, its risk factors, its potential impact on both mother and fetus, and preventive measures that can be implemented throughout pregnancy.
Throughout the session, the educational activity was conducted in an orderly, smooth, and conducive manner. Participants showed great enthusiasm by paying close attention to the presentation until its conclusion. During the evaluation and question-and-answer session, participants were able to answer several questions posed by the presenter and actively asked questions regarding the prevention and management of gestational diabetes mellitus in daily life. This demonstrated that the participants had understood the material well.
At the end of the session, Maulidya Dwi Prameswari, a Nursing Professional Education student at Universitas Airlangga, who served as the presenter, concluded the activity by stating, “This concludes today’s health education session. Thank you for your attention and active participation. We hope the information shared today has enhanced your knowledge and serves as a reminder that gestational diabetes mellitus should never be underestimated. Early detection through regular antenatal check-ups, maintaining a balanced and nutritious diet, engaging in recommended physical activity, and adhering to healthcare professionals’ advice are essential steps in preventing complications that may endanger both the mother and the baby. Let us work together to maintain a healthy pregnancy and achieve a safe delivery.”
