NERS NEWS — Surabaya, September 15, 2026 — Good news has once again come to the Faculty of Nursing through Firaz Athallah Muflih, an undergraduate student. Firaz and his team successfully won Bronze Medal IV in the PRISMA 14 competition in the essay category, which was held on September 4–6, 2026. On this occasion, Firaz and his team raised an issue related to local cultural preservation and youth empowerment.
The essay was entitled “ARKIVE (Archive Future): Empowering Youth Potential as a Wayang Beber Cultural Revitalization Community to Address the Declining Interest of Adolescents in Local Culture.” The work highlighted the phenomenon of declining interest among the younger generation in local culture, particularly Wayang Beber, while also offering a youth empowerment-based approach as part of efforts to revitalize culture.
Through ARKIVE, Firaz and his team were able to explain the important role of the younger generation in maintaining cultural sustainability. The establishment of a youth community in this idea was directed at encouraging the introduction, development, and utilization of approaches that are more relevant to the characteristics of today’s generation in introducing Wayang Beber to adolescents.
This achievement reflects students’ contributions to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Specifically, the idea developed is related to SDG 4: Quality Education, through the development of the capacity, creativity, and critical thinking skills of the younger generation. Through the achievements and works produced, students not only play a role in developing academic capacity but can also contribute to supporting sustainable development.
