This activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Arina Qana’ah, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the Academic Supervisor and M. Syamsul Hidayat, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the Clinical Supervisor, with the theme “Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Foot Exercises.”
This activity was aimed at patients and patients’ families in the outpatient clinic with the purpose of increasing knowledge about Diabetes Mellitus, risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, as well as efforts to control blood sugar levels and prevent complications through foot care and physical activity. During the activity, Riska Amelia Nirina Ilham and Dwi Indriyani Hasdiningsih served as presenters who provided education about Diabetes Mellitus and foot care to participants.

Through this health education activity, participants were provided with education about the definition of Diabetes Mellitus, risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, and the importance of continuous Diabetes Mellitus management. Participants were also provided with information about the importance of implementing a healthy diet, engaging in regular physical activity, monitoring blood sugar levels, taking medication according to healthcare professionals’ recommendations, and undergoing regular health check-ups.
After the material presentation, the activity continued with diabetes foot exercise practice guided by the students. Diabetes foot exercises were introduced as one of the simple activities that can be performed regularly to help maintain foot health and support physical activity in patients with Diabetes Mellitus. The material was delivered using leaflets and posters, after which participants were given the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about Diabetes Mellitus management and foot care.

During the activity, participants showed good enthusiasm by paying attention to the material, following the diabetes foot exercise movements, and actively participating in the discussion and evaluation sessions. The activity was conducted interactively so that participants not only received information but also had the opportunity to understand and practice simple steps to maintain foot health.
This PKRS activity was one of the promotive and preventive efforts to increase patients’ and families’ awareness of the importance of controlling Diabetes Mellitus and preventing complications. Education about Diabetes Mellitus is expected to help participants understand the importance of keeping blood sugar levels under control, implementing a healthy lifestyle, and performing regular foot care to prevent diabetic foot problems.
This activity also supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), through efforts to increase community knowledge and skills in preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases.
In addition to providing education, this activity served as a means for Nursing Profession students to implement nursing knowledge through health promotion that is applicable and oriented toward patients’ needs. The diabetes foot exercise practice conducted together is expected to become a simple skill that participants can independently apply at home. This activity also reflects the role of nursing students in supporting improvements in community health quality through health education, patient empowerment, and increased awareness of the importance of healthy living behaviors.
