NERS NEWS — Group 3 Wave 2 students from the Nurse Professional Education Program, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, conducted a Hospital Health Education (PKRS) session titled “Prevent Tuberculosis Transmission, Implement Standby” for visitors in the waiting area of the Kenjeran Public Health Center, Surabaya City, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 07:30 AM.

The educational session was delivered interactively using educational media such as leaflets and posters. This activity was carried out under the guidance of Sylvia Dwi Wahyuni, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as Academic Advisor and Afif Nailil Huda, S.Kep., Ns. as Clinical Instructor.

The students provided explanations regarding the definition of tuberculosis (TB) as a chronic infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, risk factors, main signs and symptoms such as a productive cough lasting more than two weeks, and the importance of medication adherence.

This activity aimed to raise public awareness about practicing preventive measures against TB transmission within the family environment, considering the high vulnerability of transmission in dense households. These efforts align with support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, to reduce TB case numbers and foster a healthier community.
