NERS NEWS – Students of the Professional Nursing Practice Program from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Batch B27 Group 10, provided health education on the management of the 3J (Type, Amount, Schedule) and physical exercise for patients with diabetes mellitus. The activity was conducted on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the IRNA 5 PEDE Ward of Universitas Airlangga Hospital. The purpose of this activity was to increase the knowledge of patients’ families so they could understand and assist in implementing the 3J management (Type, Amount, Schedule) for patients with Diabetes Mellitus during treatment in the IRNA 5 PEDE Ward of Universitas Airlangga Hospital and after the patients return home.
This activity was carried out under the supervision of Dr. Purwaningsih, S.Kp., M.Kes., FISQua as the academic supervisor, and Ners Widia Yuniarti, S.Kep., Ns as the clinical instructor, as part of the clinical practice learning process and community service in a teaching hospital environment. The session began with an opening and introduction of the students as presenters, followed by the delivery of educational material on 3J management (Type, Amount, Schedule) and the introduction of physical exercises commonly recommended for patients with diabetes mellitus. During the presentation, participants showed good enthusiasm, as seen from their attention to the material and their active participation in the question-and-answer session.
The educational session was conducted in an orderly, smooth, and conducive manner and concluded with a documentation session as evidence of the activity implementation. After the presentation, a brief evaluation was conducted through oral questions to assess the participants’ understanding of the material that had been delivered. The evaluation results indicated that most participants were able to explain the 3J management (Type, Amount, Schedule) and identify physical exercises suitable for patients with diabetes mellitus. This shows that the education provided was well received and had a positive impact on improving participants’ knowledge.
Through this activity, it is expected that participants, especially the patients’ children and families, will not only understand the theory but also be able to assist in implementing the 3J management (Type, Amount, Schedule) for patients with Diabetes Mellitus during treatment in the IRNA 5 PEDE Ward of Universitas Airlangga Hospital and after the patients return home.
