Health Education: “Early Detection, Prompt Action: Managing Hypoglycemia & Hyperglycemia in Diabetes at Home”

NERS NEWS – On Friday, April 10, a health education session was held in IRNA 6 Ward at Rumah Sakit Universitas Airlangga with the theme, “Early Detection, Prompt Action: Managing Hypoglycemia & Hyperglycemia in Diabetes at Home.”

This activity was intended for patients and their families living with diabetes mellitus as an effort to improve their knowledge and skills in recognizing and independently managing hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia at home.

The session was conducted at 10:00 a.m. WIB using an interactive lecture method, followed by discussion and a question-and-answer session. Educational leaflets and posters were used to help participants better understand the material presented.

The topics covered included the definition of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia, signs and symptoms, causes, initial management steps at home, and preventive measures to avoid recurrence of these conditions.

The activity ran smoothly and received a positive response from participants. They appeared enthusiastic throughout the session, actively participated in discussions, and were able to answer questions given as an evaluation of their understanding.

A total of 15 participants attended the activity, consisting of patients and their family members in IRNA 6 Ward.

With the successful implementation of this program, it is hoped that participants will become more alert to changes in blood sugar levels and be able to take appropriate initial action to prevent more serious complications.
