Nursing Profession Students Conduct “GENTAS: Community Movement to Respond to and Overcome Hypertension” Health Education for Prolanis Participants at Kalijudan Community Health Center

NERS NEWS — On Saturday, September 12, 2026, Nursing Profession students from Batch 48, Group 2, Second Wave, Community and Family Nursing Rotation, conducted a health education activity for participants of the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) at Kalijudan Community Health Center. The activity focused on hypertension and neck massage as an effort to increase participants’ knowledge about blood pressure control and the application of relaxation techniques in daily life.

The activity began with education on hypertension, which included its definition, risk factors, signs and symptoms, complications, and the importance of routinely monitoring and controlling blood pressure. Participants were also provided with education on adopting a healthy lifestyle, such as reducing salt consumption, maintaining a healthy diet, engaging in regular physical activity, managing stress, and taking medication according to the recommendations of healthcare professionals.

Next, Nursing Profession students from Group 2 demonstrated neck massage as one of the non-pharmacological techniques that can be used to help provide comfort and reduce tension in the neck area, which is expected to help lower blood pressure and relieve headaches. The demonstration was conducted step by step, while participants were given the opportunity to practice the technique by following the students’ instructions.

Prolanis participants showed enthusiasm throughout the activity. This was evident from their active participation in the demonstration and practice of neck massage. The activity was interactive, so participants not only received materials and leaflets containing information about hypertension but also gained experience in practicing the relaxation technique that had been provided.

Through this activity, Nursing Profession students from Group 2 hoped that Prolanis participants would increase their awareness of the importance of continuous hypertension management and would be able to become part of efforts to maintain health and prevent hypertension complications. This health education activity also served as a form of contribution by Nursing Profession students in providing health education to the community and supporting the promotive and preventive efforts carried out by Kalijudan Community Health Center.
