NERS NEWS — The Ministry of Strategic Issues and Advocacy of the Student Executive Board (BEM), Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, held Public Discussion 2026 under the theme “Transformation of Healthcare Services in the Digital Era: Challenges in Governance, Ethics, and Professionalism” on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at the Joint Lecture Building, Unair Campus C. The activity aimed to improve participants’ knowledge of ethical challenges in healthcare services in the digital era through presentations and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs).
The activity was divided into two sessions: a presentation session and an FGD session. In the first session, the speaker presented material on ethics for nurses amid technological developments. In the second session, participants held group discussions and then presented the results of their FGDs.
Public Discussion 2026 featured Dr. Misutarno, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., as the speaker and Kamila Risqi, the Faculty of Nursing, Unair Ambassador, as the moderator. Of the approximately 150 participants, several came from faculties outside nursing, including the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), in addition to participants from the Faculty of Nursing.
The activity aimed to improve participants’ knowledge of ethical challenges in healthcare services in the digital era while also developing critical thinking skills through discussion sessions. It also supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4: Quality Education.
During the presentation, Dr. Misutarno emphasized the importance of ethics for nurses. “In this digital era, nurses must continue to uphold ethical principles to support healthcare services,” he stated. The FGD sessions were lively and filled with arguments. Darmawira, a participant from a non-nursing faculty, expressed his impression of the activity. “I was impressed by how my fellow participants presented their FGD results. Before I knew it, the intensity was almost like a debate competition,” he said.
Through this activity, participants are expected to improve their knowledge of ethics and professionalism in healthcare services in the digital era. The activity is also expected to equip healthcare students with the knowledge they need to apply these principles in healthcare practice.
