NERS NEWS – Group 2 of the Pediatric Nursing Clinical Rotation, Professional Nursing Program, Class of 2026, Cohort 49, conducted a Hospital Health Promotion (Promosi Kesehatan Rumah Sakit/PKRS) activity under the theme “Recognize the Symptoms of Measles and Prevent Its Transmission Through Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors” on Friday, October 16, 2026. The activity took place at the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic of Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA) to improve patients’ families’ knowledge of measles and how to prevent its transmission through the implementation of Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (Perilaku Hidup Bersih dan Sehat/PHBS).
During the activity, participants received education about measles, including its definition, signs and symptoms, modes of transmission, and preventive measures. Patients’ families were also informed about the importance of immunization and the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors, including proper handwashing and respiratory etiquette when coughing and sneezing, to help reduce the risk of disease transmission.
The PKRS activity was conducted interactively using PowerPoint presentations and leaflets as educational media. The material was delivered in simple, easy-to-understand language to ensure that patients’ families could understand the information effectively. The activity continued with a discussion and question-and-answer session, allowing participants to gain a better understanding of measles and the appropriate steps to prevent its transmission.
Through this activity, patients’ families are expected to be able to recognize the symptoms of measles, understand how it spreads, and implement appropriate preventive measures in their daily lives. This educational initiative is also expected to raise families’ awareness of the importance of maintaining personal and environmental hygiene and protecting children from the risk of measles transmission.
This health education activity also supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by improving families’ knowledge and awareness of infectious disease prevention and promoting efforts to maintain children’s health.
Through the PKRS activity under the theme “Recognize the Symptoms of Measles and Prevent Its Transmission Through Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors,” Group 2 of the Pediatric Nursing Clinical Rotation, Professional Nursing Program, Cohort 49, hopes that the education provided will help patients’ families understand the importance of measles prevention and encourage the adoption of clean and healthy living behaviors as part of ongoing efforts to protect children’s health
