NERS NEWS — Mojokerto, July 24, 2026. A festive atmosphere filled Ngembat Village, Gondang District, Mojokerto Regency, East Java, on Friday evening, July 24, 2026. To mark the closing of the Berdaya (Bersama Dampingi Masyarakat) 2026 program, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga organized a Festival Night, an event celebrating art and creativity that was warmly welcomed by the local community, especially the students of SDN Ngembat.
The event began at 6:00 p.m. (WIB) with participant registration. The program opened with children’s dance performances, including a Banyuwangi cultural dance performed by sixth-grade students and the Boria Suka Suka dance presented by children from SD Ngembat. The event was then officially hosted by two young masters of ceremony, Ananda Aufa Suci Kinanti and Juventia Tresnaning Daruwanti, who guided the program with enthusiasm and cheerfulness before everyone sang the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya.
Following the opening ceremony, several distinguished guests delivered welcoming remarks. The first speech was given by the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Imas Cahya, who expressed gratitude for the successful implementation of the entire Berdaya program. “Alhamdulillah, the entire Berdaya program in Ngembat Village ran smoothly thanks to the support of the community and the enthusiasm of the younger children here. Hopefully, tonight will become a beautiful memory for all of us,” she said.
The next speech was delivered by the President of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Zahra Nadia, who emphasized the importance of sustaining initiatives like this. “We hope that the Berdaya program will not end here, but instead become the beginning of a long-term collaboration between university students and the people of Ngembat Village,” she stated.
Also in attendance were the Minister of Social Affairs of the Faculty of Nursing Student Executive Board, Dwi Nur Fauziah, and the Head of Ngembat Village, Mr. Tri Handono, who expressed appreciation for the students’ initiative in fostering togetherness and encouraging creativity among the village’s younger generation. “We are truly grateful to the university students who have accompanied and supported our community throughout this program. We hope the enthusiasm and creativity inspired tonight will continue to grow among the children of Ngembat,” said Tri Handono.
The highlight of the festival was a series of competitions, including a Fashion Show Competition, Coloring Competition, and Children’s Performing Arts Show (Pensi), featuring students from SD Ngembat. Cheers from the audience accompanied every performance, from the confident walk of the young models in colorful costumes to the performing arts presentations by upper-grade students.
One of the most anticipated moments of the evening was the special performance by the Berdaya 2026 organizing committee, who presented a theatrical adaptation of the Roro Jonggrang legend set in a royal kingdom. The performance had been prepared several months in advance and featured the characters Bandung Bondowoso, Roro Jonggrang, several ladies-in-waiting, a king, and a genie. The drama also incorporated the Ngembat Village Gate, constructed from recycled plastic bottles arranged to form the word “NGEMBAT.” The letter “T” in the installation was symbolically represented by the character of Roro Jonggrang, reflecting the committee’s creativity in combining Indonesian folklore with their community project of building the village gate, which had been painted red and white to commemorate the 81st Indonesian Independence Day on August 17.

The screening of the after-movie became one of the most emotional moments of the evening. The video documented the committee’s two-week journey alongside the people of Ngembat Village, touching the hearts of many attendees. Both residents and committee members were visibly moved as they relived the memories and togetherness built throughout the program.
The event concluded with an awarding ceremony, a symbolic gong-closing ceremony, and a group documentation session involving all participants. More than simply an evening of entertainment, the Festival Night served as a platform for village children to express their creativity, showcase their talents, and build confidence on stage.
