NERS NEWS – Group 13 of the Nursing Profession Education Program, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, held a Hospital Health Education (PKRS) session themed “Clean Baby, Full of Love, Great Parents” on Friday, February 13, 2026. The event took place at the Perinatal Ward (PERINA) of Universitas Airlangga Hospital (RSUA). This initiative aimed to enhance parents’ understanding of fulfilling a baby’s basic needs for cleanliness and comfort during their hospital stay.

The education session utilized lectures, demonstrations, and Q&A sessions, supported by informative posters and leaflets. The material focused on the vital role of infant personal hygiene in preventing infections and improving the baby’s comfort during recovery.

Approximately five parents participated in the session, supervised by Ners Diah as the clinical instructor. Beyond the theoretical presentation, the team demonstrated the six steps of handwashing, proper diaper-changing techniques, safe and comfortable swaddling, and correct bathing methods to ensure the baby remains warm and avoids skin irritation.

This program aims to equip parents with the knowledge and practical skills needed for independent infant care at home. This education is expected to reduce infection risks, maintain skin integrity, and support optimal infant growth and development. Furthermore, this PKRS activity aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-Being, by improving family health literacy.

Throughout the session, parents showed high enthusiasm, actively asking about diaper-changing frequency, safe water temperatures for bathing, and how to maintain oral and skin hygiene for their infants. The clinical instructor’s presence ensured that all information shared adhered to safe, evidence-based nursing practices.

Through this initiative, it is hoped that parents will consistently apply these hygiene and care practices at home as a promotive and preventive measure in safeguarding their baby’s health.
