NERS NEWS — On the second day of the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) “PELAWAN”, all assigned participants from Class A1 gathered at the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, at 06:15 AM for attendance checking and preparation before departing for TK Triguna Bhakti I Surabaya. This second-day activity was conducted under the supervision of Faculty of Nursing lecturers at Universitas Airlangga: Dr. Purwaningsih, S.Kp., M.Kes.; Dr. Candra Panji Asmoro, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep.; and Nauvila Fitrotul ‘Aini, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. After all preparations were completed, the students departed for the activity location at 07:00 AM.
The activity began at 07:30 AM with a group exercise session featuring the 6 Steps of Handwashing. Through this activity, the kindergarten students were introduced to and encouraged to remember the correct handwashing steps in a fun and easy-to-understand way.
After the exercise session, the students returned to their respective classrooms to participate in the educational session. The classroom activity began with an ice-breaking session involving games related to the 6 steps of handwashing to create an interactive and enjoyable learning environment. Following this, the university students conducted demonstrations and guided the kindergarten students in practicing the 6-step handwashing technique directly using soap and running water. The practice was carried out in turns to ensure that each student had the opportunity to apply the handwashing steps correctly.
Through this hands-on practice, it is expected that the students will not only understand the importance of maintaining hand hygiene but also be able to apply proper handwashing techniques in daily life as part of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS).
As a closing activity, prizes were distributed to students who actively participated throughout the program. The moment was then documented through a group photo session involving university students, kindergarten students, teachers, the principal of TK Triguna Bhakti I Surabaya, and the supervising lecturers who attended the activity.
