
NERS NEWS — Phitsanulok, Thailand — Delegation of lecturers from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga (Unair), conducted a site visit to Naresuan University Hospital in Phitsanulok, Thailand, on Thursday, July 2, 2026. The strategic visit, which began at 9:00 a.m. local time, aimed to discuss opportunities for clinical collaboration, healthcare service management, and comparative studies of hospital systems between Universitas Airlangga and Naresuan University.
During the visit, the main agenda focused on an in-depth presentation of the operational management of Naresuan University Hospital. The Faculty of Nursing Unair delegation received a comprehensive overview of the hospital’s dominant disease patterns, ward management, healthcare personnel salary system, and the patient safety indicators implemented at the teaching hospital.
The Faculty of Nursing Unair delegation was warmly welcomed by the Director of Naresuan University Hospital, Dr. Pichet Wattanapairojrat, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine as well as the Acting Director of the hospital, Assistant Professor Dr. Piriya Narukhatphichai. The meeting, held at the hospital complex in Phitsanulok, facilitated an interactive discussion on global challenges in the nursing and medical sectors.
This visit represents a concrete institutional effort to support the improvement of academically based healthcare services. In addition to exchanging insights, the discussion is expected to become a bridge for future collaborative programs, including student exchanges, joint research, and international clinical internships that will provide long-term benefits for both institutions.
“Synergy among higher education institutions at the regional level is essential to address global health challenges. Through this site visit, we hope to adopt best practices in patient safety management and clinical governance from Naresuan University Hospital to strengthen the healthcare ecosystem at Universitas Airlangga,” said Dr. Purwaningsih, S.Kp., M.Kes., one of the representatives of the Faculty of Nursing Unair delegation.
The next agenda was a visit to the Faculty of Public Health, where the delegation had the opportunity to participate in an engaging activity with local lecturers. During this session, they learned how to make Hong Thai, a traditional Thai herbal product widely known for its refreshing aroma and commonly used to help relieve dizziness, nasal congestion, and promote relaxation. Throughout the activity, the hosts explained the ingredients and demonstrated the preparation process, allowing the delegation to gain not only hands-on experience but also broader knowledge of the use of herbal plants in daily life.
After completing the day’s activities, the delegation was invited to attend the Teacher Respect Day celebration and introduce Indonesian culture to the lecturers and students in attendance. On this occasion, they performed a traditional dance that combined dances from various regions of Indonesia as a way to introduce the richness of Indonesian cultural heritage. Their performance received an enthusiastic response from the audience.
Through this series of activities, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, not only expanded its international collaboration network but also contributed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). This collaboration is expected to promote improvements in nursing education, healthcare service development, and the strengthening of sustainable global partnerships.
