NERS NEWS — Banyuwangi, May 4, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga continues to strengthen its commitment to advancing higher nursing education through the Socialization Program for the Master of Nursing Study Program and the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Program (Sp.KMB), held at the DPD PPNI Banyuwangi Secretariat Building on Monday (May 4, 2026).
The activity was the result of strong collaboration and partnership between the Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga and DPD PPNI Banyuwangi in an effort to expand access to advanced education for nurses and improve the quality of nursing human resources in Banyuwangi and surrounding areas.
In this activity, FKp Unair was directly represented by the Dean of the Faculty of Nursing, the Vice Dean I, the Head of the Master of Nursing Study Program, and the Head of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Program (Sp.KMB). The presence of the faculty leadership demonstrated FKp Unair’s strong commitment to supporting the development of nurses’ competencies through high-quality academic and specialist education.
The socialization event was also attended by the Head of the Banyuwangi District Health Office, the Chairperson of DPD PPNI Banyuwangi, hospital directors from across Banyuwangi, leaders of nursing higher education institutions in Banyuwangi, as well as representatives of nurses from various hospitals and public health centers in the region.
On this occasion, the Head of the Banyuwangi District Health Office expressed positive remarks and appreciation for the implementation of the socialization activity. He also encouraged and fully supported nurses in Banyuwangi to pursue higher education at the master’s and specialist levels as part of efforts to improve competency and healthcare service quality in the region. This support reflects the local government’s commitment to developing professional and competitive healthcare human resources.
In its remarks, FKp Unair emphasized that the development of master’s and specialist nursing education is a strategic step in addressing increasingly complex healthcare challenges. Nurses are expected not only to possess strong clinical competencies but also leadership abilities, evidence-based decision-making skills, research capabilities, and professional advanced nursing practices.
The Master of Nursing Study Program is designed to produce graduates who excel in the development of knowledge, research, management, and nursing education. Meanwhile, the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Program (Sp.KMB) aims to prepare specialist nurses with advanced clinical competencies in providing comprehensive nursing care for patients with complex medical-surgical conditions.
This socialization activity also became an important momentum for strengthening synergy between educational institutions, professional organizations, healthcare facilities, and local government in supporting the improvement of public healthcare services. Through higher nursing education, it is hoped that professional nurses who are adaptable to developments in healthcare science and technology and capable of providing optimal services to the community will emerge.
For the Faculty of Nursing Universitas Airlangga, this activity is part of its efforts to expand collaborative networks and strengthen the institution’s role in the development of nursing education in Indonesia, particularly in East Java. In addition, the activity is expected to provide broader opportunities for nurses in Banyuwangi to continue their education at the master’s and specialist levels while maintaining their commitment to professional healthcare services for the community.
The enthusiasm shown by participants reflected the high interest and demand for advanced nursing education. FKp Unair hopes that this activity will serve as an initial step toward building sustainable collaboration in creating professional, competent, and globally competitive nurses for the future advancement of the nursing profession.
