NERS NEWS – Surabaya, April 15, 2026. The Faculty of Nursing (FKp) at Universitas Airlangga held its Routine Faculty and Staff Quranic Study session in commemoration of its 27th Anniversary. The event took place on Wednesday (15/4) at the Florence Nightingale Room, Faculty of Nursing, Unair. This initiative serves as a platform to strengthen the spirituality of the academic community and instill the value of amanah (trust/integrity) in the execution of professional duties.
The session featured Ustadz Marzuki Mustamar as the guest speaker, who delivered a lecture titled “Syawal as a Momentum for Istiqamah (Consistency): Work as Worship, Upholding the Trust.” In his lecture, he emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency in worship following the holy month of Ramadan, as well as integrating spiritual values into daily work activities. He reminded the attendees that every task performed is a form of responsibility that must be carried out with sincerity and integrity. Faculty members and staff were encouraged to transform their professional duties into acts of worship, thereby enhancing the quality of their performance based on Islamic values.
Beyond serving as a means to enhance faith, this event acted as a moment of self-reflection for the academic community regarding their roles and responsibilities. The interaction throughout the event created a warm, familial atmosphere, strengthening the bonds between faculty members and administrative staff. This, in turn, supports the creation of a harmonious, religious, and mutually supportive work environment in achieving the institution’s shared goals.
The event also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions, by fostering an institutional environment characterized by integrity, transparency, and moral values. By strengthening spiritual values and work ethics, it is expected that the academic community will contribute optimally to creating good institutional governance.
Through this initiative, the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Airlangga hopes that the values of istiqamah and amanah will remain embedded and upheld by every individual. It is hoped that these values will serve as the foundation for performing professional duties, thereby enhancing work performance while making a tangible contribution to the development of the institution and the wider community.
