Gencorps School 2026: Improving Members’ Competence and Skills

NERS NEWS — As an effort to improve the quality of competent human resources who are ready to face various field challenges, Gencorps organized the Gencorps School (GCS) 2026 program. This activity serves as a learning platform for members to develop knowledge, skills, and character through a series of applicable and beneficial materials.

Gencorps School (GCS) 2026 was conducted in five training meetings (TM), starting on April 26, 2026. The first session covered Climbing material, aimed at training field readiness while building participants’ character. Through this session, participants learned equipment usage, basic rope techniques, and safety procedures when working at heights. In addition to technical skills, this activity also fosters courage, teamwork, discipline, and decision-making abilities in various situations.

The second session focused on Catheterization, discussing the use of a device to assist urine drainage in certain conditions. Participants were introduced to its function, types, and proper insertion procedures while emphasizing sterility principles and patient safety. This material is expected to improve participants’ understanding of basic procedures commonly encountered in the healthcare field.

In addition, the third TM included IV Insertion, a procedure for administering fluids or medication directly into the bloodstream. In this session, participants learned the necessary equipment, basic insertion techniques, and procedures aligned with healthcare service standards. Furthermore, GCS 2026 also presented Electrocardiogram (ECG) material, a test used to record the electrical activity of the heart. Participants learned the basics of the heart’s electrical system, electrode placement, and basic interpretation of ECG results.

As the final part of the program, participants took part in a Final Evaluation TM. This session aimed to assess participants’ understanding and skills across all materials delivered during Gencorps School 2026. Beyond evaluation, it also encouraged participants to reflect on their learning process and identify areas for future improvement.

Through this series of training sessions and the final evaluation, Gencorps School 2026 is expected to become a comprehensive learning platform that enhances members’ competencies in both healthcare-related skills and personal development. With the knowledge, skills, and experience gained, participants are expected to become more prepared, professional, and capable of contributing positively to both the organization and society.
