NERS NEWS — Surabaya, September 10, 2026 — As part of the clinical learning implementation of the Nursing Profession Education Program, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Batch 49, Group 10 of the Medical-Surgical Nursing (KMB) Rotation conducted a Hospital Health Promotion (PKRS) activity with the theme “Controlled Diabetes, Healthy Body without Complications” in Inpatient Room 7A Graha Trimed Universitas Airlangga on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. WIB. This activity also served as a form of student contribution in providing health education to patients and families in the hospital environment. The activity was accompanied by Nur Arifah Astri, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the Academic Advisor and Rahmatul Fitriyah, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the Clinical Supervisor.

This activity was aimed at family members accompanying patients as an effort to increase families’ knowledge and awareness regarding the importance of diabetes mellitus control. This was carried out because families have an important role in supporting patients, both in implementing a healthy lifestyle, adhering to treatment, and preventing diabetes complications. During the activity, participants received education on diabetes mellitus, the importance of maintaining controlled blood glucose levels, a healthy diet, physical activity, adherence to treatment, and efforts to prevent diabetes complications. The material was delivered interactively so that participants not only received information but could also discuss and ask questions regarding diabetes experienced by patients and their families.

The implementation of this Hospital Health Promotion (PKRS) activity is expected to increase families’ understanding of diabetes mellitus so that they can provide appropriate support to patients in carrying out treatment and adopting healthy lifestyle behaviors. With good knowledge, families can serve as the main support in helping patients achieve better-controlled diabetes and reducing the risk of complications. Through this activity, students are also expected to make a concrete contribution to promotive and preventive efforts in the hospital environment. The information obtained is expected to be applied in daily life so that it not only improves the quality of life of patients and families but also supports efforts to prevent complications caused by diabetes mellitus.
