Instilling Healthy Habits from an Early Age: PHBS Education for Students of PAUD Madani, RT 03 Klampis Ngasem

NERS NEWS — Students of the Faculty of Nursing, Professional Nursing Program (Ners), Community and Family Nursing Rotation Batch 2, conducted a health education activity titled Learning Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) from an Early Age. This educational initiative aimed to instill clean and healthy living habits in early childhood.

During the activity, PAUD students were provided with interactive learning sessions on the importance of personal hygiene. The children directly practiced proper handwashing with soap following the correct steps and participated in demonstrations and exercises on correct toothbrushing techniques. The material was delivered through enjoyable and engaging methods, using visual media, songs, and group practice to ensure it was easily understood by the children.

The activity was conducted in an active and participatory manner, allowing students to directly practice clean and healthy behaviors as part of building daily habits. The program took place on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 08:30 AM until completion, at PAUD Madani RT 03 Klampis Ngasem. The target participants were students of PAUD Madani RT 03 Klampis Ngasem. The activity was carried out by Group 2 of the Community Nursing Rotation, Professional Nursing Program A2021, with support from the school and accompanying teachers. The entire series of activities ran in an orderly and smooth manner and received enthusiastic participation from the students.

This activity was motivated by the importance of instilling Clean and Healthy Living Behaviors (PHBS) from an early age as a preventive effort against various infectious diseases such as diarrhea, acute respiratory infections (ARI), helminth infections, and dental caries. Childhood is considered a golden period for habit formation; therefore, health education at this stage is crucial to build awareness and independence in maintaining personal health.

The objective of this activity was that after participating in the ±45-minute session, students of PAUD Madani RT 03 Klampis Ngasem would be able to understand and apply clean and healthy living behaviors in their daily lives. This initiative is also aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) in promoting health and well-being, and Goal 4 (Quality Education) through the provision of quality health education from an early age.

Through this activity, it is hoped that long-term benefits will be achieved in shaping a healthy, hygiene-conscious, and empowered generation.
