International Collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga and Universiti Malaysia Sabah in Promoting Child Safety through a CSR Program

NERS NEWS — The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, participated in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program at Klinik Kesihatan Menggatal, Sabah, Malaysia, under the theme “Healthy Women, Safe Children Towards Healthy and Prosperous Families” on July 2, 2026. The activity was conducted as part of the community engagement component of the Staff and Student Mobility Program to Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The community engagement program was led by Dr. Praba Diyan Rachmawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., together with Prof. Dr. Tintin Sukartini, S.Kp., M.Kes., Dr. Ika Yuni Widyawati, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., Ns.Sp.Kep.MB., and students Alina Ramadani and Arthamevia Annisatun Nisaq. The program aimed to provide health education to the community while strengthening academic contributions in nursing through community engagement and international collaboration between the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, and Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS).

The CSR program began with a community education session conducted by diploma students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, who delivered health education to the participants. This was followed by an educational session presented by Dr. Praba Diyan Rachmawati from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga. The activity was attended by 10 mothers, along with students from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Cyberjaya College.

During the session, Dr. Praba Diyan Rachmawati emphasized the importance of maintaining women’s health as the foundation for building healthy families. She explained that mothers play a crucial role in nurturing, protecting, and supporting the growth and development of their children. Therefore, maternal health should be prioritized to enable mothers to provide optimal care.

She also highlighted the principles of child safety, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment where children can grow and develop optimally. “Mothers must be healthy first in order to care for their children effectively,” said Dr. Praba.

Following the presentation, the program continued with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session. Participants shared their experiences in caring for and protecting their children at home. A quiz on child safety principles was also conducted to reinforce participants’ understanding of the educational material.

The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the most active participant as a token of appreciation for their enthusiasm and participation. A souvenir was also presented to Klinik Kesihatan Menggatal in recognition of its collaboration in organizing the CSR program. The activity ended with a group photo session.
