NERS NEWS — Mojokerto — In an effort to boost the local economy while supporting the overall well-being of the community, students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, through a community service program, launched the “Ngembat Ekspansi” program by developing a health-integrated MSME catalog website for business owners in Ngembat Village, Gondang District, Mojokerto Regency.
This community service activity focused on the “Ngembat Ekspansi” program, which was implemented through the development of an MSME catalog website to digitally promote various leading products from Ngembat Village. Through this platform, local businesses can be managed, mapped, and marketed more widely. Uniquely, the catalog platform was designed to integrate public health aspects, such as curated promotions of local hygiene products and a healthy living education section. Thus, the platform not only supports the growth of the rural economy but also contributes to the overall health and well-being of the community.
The “Ngembat Ekspansi” program, as a strategic digitalization initiative, was initiated by students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, in collaboration with village officials and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise (MSME) owners in Ngembat Village. The program socialization, product data collection, and website management training were conducted on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Ngembat Village Hall, Gondang District, Mojokerto Regency.
The program was initiated in response to the need to expand the market reach of village commodities, which had previously relied primarily on conventional methods, as well as the importance of strengthening health and hygiene literacy among MSME owners. The integration of technology and health campaigns represents a concrete form of community service commitment in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 1, No Poverty, and Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, by strengthening economic independence through the development of a website containing a catalog of various MSMEs. The “Ngembat Ekspansi” program focuses on village development by reactivating BUMDes as a driver of the local economy and developing an MSME catalog website to digitally promote leading products from Ngembat Village. Through this program, local business potential can be managed and marketed more widely while being integrated with health-related aspects, such as hygiene products and healthy living education. In this way, the program not only contributes to improving the village economy but also supports the overall well-being of the community.

The digitalization initiative was well received by village officials, who viewed the website as a potential new driver of economic growth. “We are very grateful for the availability of this website for the village. We will make every effort to ensure that the website is used properly, and I also hope that this initiative can be sustained to improve the local economy while promoting Ngembat Village more widely,” said Mr. Tri, Head of Ngembat Village.
The program evaluation was conducted comprehensively by observing changes in the partners’ understanding, as well as monitoring the frequency of website use and the potential increase in local product sales. To ensure sustainability and digital security, regular website security monitoring was also carried out, along with the appointment of an official Person in Charge (PIC), which was assigned to BUMDes while prioritizing the active involvement of young cadres from Generation Z.
The “Ngembat Ekspansi” program, through the development of an MSME catalog website, demonstrates that the synergy between technological digitalization and health promotion can bring about concrete positive changes. With the commitment to secure website management by Gen Z cadres of BUMDes, the platform is expected to continue developing as a driver of adaptive and innovative rural economic independence while improving the healthy quality of life of all members of the Ngembat Village community in the long term.
