NERS NEWS — Nursing Profession students conducted a Hospital Health Education (Pendidikan Kesehatan Rumah Sakit/PKRS) activity under the theme “Hypertension Prevention through the SANTAI Program (Sadar dan Tangguh Atasi Hipertensi)”. The activity was aimed at Posga (Posyandu Keluarga/Family Integrated Health Post) participants and was held on Saturday, August 9, 2026, at the RW 3 Community Hall, Dukuh Sutorejo Subdistrict.
The education was provided as a promotive and preventive effort to improve the community’s understanding of hypertension and the importance of preventing it from an early stage. The material covered an introduction to hypertension, factors that may increase the risk of developing hypertension, and various measures that can be taken to keep blood pressure under control.
The activity was conducted interactively through a presentation and discussion session with participants. Participants were given the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences related to maintaining health and preventing hypertension in their daily lives. Throughout the activity, participants followed the education session well and showed interest in the material presented.
Through the SANTAI Program (Sadar dan Tangguh Atasi Hipertensi), the students sought to encourage the community to become more aware of hypertension risk factors and to adopt healthy behaviors. Hypertension can be prevented through various simple habits, such as maintaining a healthy diet, limiting salt intake, engaging in regular physical activity, maintaining a healthy weight, avoiding smoking, and having blood pressure checked regularly.
This health education activity also served as a form of contribution by nursing students in providing health information that is easy for the community to understand and apply. Increased knowledge is expected to encourage participants to take a more active role in maintaining their health and recognizing hypertension risk factors before they develop into more serious health problems.
The PKRS activity also supported the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:
- SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, through increasing community awareness of hypertension prevention and maintaining optimal health.
- SDG 4: Quality Education, through the provision of health education to improve community knowledge and awareness.
- SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through collaboration among students, Posyandu Keluarga cadres, and the community in implementing the health education activity.
Overall, the “SANTAI Program (Sadar dan Tangguh Atasi Hipertensi)” PKRS activity was carried out smoothly. Through this activity, participants are expected to understand the importance of hypertension prevention and begin adopting healthy lifestyles in their daily lives. Continuous health education is expected to help increase community awareness of non-communicable disease prevention and support the creation of a healthier community.
