NERS NEWS — Nursing Professional Program students of Batch B27 Group D1.3 from the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Airlangga organized a Hospital Health Promotion (PKRS) activity themed “Beware of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF)” in the IRNA 4 Pediatric Ward at Universitas Airlangga Hospital on Friday, May 1, 2026.
The PKRS activity began at 10.00 WIB using a communicative and participatory approach. The material was delivered through brief presentations and two-way discussions. To strengthen participants’ understanding, the group utilized educational leaflets designed in a simple and easy-to-understand format. This activity was conducted under the clinical supervision of Widia Yuniati and academic supervision of Nuzul Qura’niati.
This educational activity targeted the families of patients who were accompanying patients, with the aim of increasing understanding regarding Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) as one of the infectious diseases that remains a health issue in Indonesia, especially among children. The education aimed to improve the knowledge of patients and families regarding the definition of DHF, signs and symptoms, methods of transmission, initial management, and prevention efforts through mosquito nest eradication and the implementation of clean and healthy living behaviors.
The educational activity directly contributed to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being. Education provided to patients’ families helps reduce preventable mortality through prevention efforts and health promotion.
Through this PKRS activity, it is hoped that families will increase their awareness in recognizing DHF symptoms early and independently carrying out preventive measures, thereby reducing the risk of complications as well as the incidence of DHF within the surrounding community.
