NERS NEWS — Clinical practice students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, organized a health promotion activity on stroke prevention and management for patients at the Inpatient Ward (IRNA) 5A Graha Trimed, Universitas Airlangga Hospital, on Thursday, June 4, 2026. This activity was conducted through direct educational sessions so that the general public could understand the dangers of stroke.
This health promotion focused on providing comprehensive education regarding stroke, or cerebrovascular accident (CVA). The clinical practice students delivered health education using interactive methods to ensure that the information was easy to understand. The education was provided systematically, covering the recognition of early symptoms, risk factors and causes, as well as emergency management measures and self-prevention strategies that could be directly implemented by the general public.
This health promotion activity was initiated by Group B4 clinical practice students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, and involved patients who were undergoing treatment. This educational program was conducted in an integrated manner on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Inpatient Ward (IRNA) 5A Graha Trimed, Universitas Airlangga Hospital.
This activity was motivated by the fact that stroke patients require comprehensive management from the acute phase through rehabilitation in order to maximize the recovery of bodily functions and improve patients’ quality of life. Therefore, education is needed for everyone to provide prompt first aid measures. The implementation of this educational activity is a tangible form of support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 on Good Health and Well-Being and SDG 4 on Quality Education.
This health education specifically integrates two major pillars of the SDGs into concrete action. First, this activity embodies SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, as it contributes to reducing the progression of disease through the promotion of healthy lifestyles. Second, this initiative aligns with SDG 4: Quality Education by encouraging the equitable dissemination of public knowledge and providing quality, inclusive, and applicable health literacy for all segments of society.
This health promotion program has had a positive impact in strengthening public awareness of the threat posed by stroke. It is hoped that this activity will continue sustainably so that the institution’s contribution to improving health literacy and achieving national SDG targets can be realized to the fullest extent.
