The activities involved all students from Grades 1 to 6, with educational materials tailored to each grade level to enhance health knowledge and foster healthy and hygienic behaviors from an early age.
The health promotion activities were carried out in stages across all classrooms using interactive educational methods, demonstrations, educational games, and question-and-answer sessions. The topics covered included personal hygiene for Grade 1 students, oral and dental health for Grade 2, eye health for Grade 3, Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) for Grade 4, early puberty awareness and understanding body boundaries for Grade 5, and reproductive health and anemia prevention for Grade 6. The activities were held in the classrooms of SDN Ngembat from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., with Universitas Airlangga nursing students serving as educational facilitators. The students’ enthusiasm was evident through their active participation in demonstrations, discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and awarding activities that recognized the most active participants.
The program aimed to improve health literacy among school-age children by providing educational content appropriate to their developmental stages. It is expected that students will be able to adopt clean and healthy lifestyles, maintain their personal health, and understand the importance of preventing health problems from an early age. This initiative also represents the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education through community service and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4: Quality Education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
Through this series of health promotion activities under the Bersama Dampingi Masyarakat (BERDAYA) 2026 program, the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, hopes to continue its collaboration with SDN Ngembat in fostering a generation that is healthy, knowledgeable, and capable of practicing healthy behaviors both at school and at home.
