NERS NEWS — Nursing Profession students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, Group 7, Batch 49, conducted a Hospital Health Promotion (PKRS) activity as part of the Basic Nursing Practice rotation. The activity focused on patient safety under the theme “Recognize Fall Risks, Prevent Them Before They Occur.”
The activity was held on Friday, August 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at IRNA 3A Grha Trimed, Universitas Airlangga Special Infection Hospital. The participants were family members of patients undergoing treatment. Families play an important role in helping prevent patients from experiencing falls during hospitalization.
The PKRS activity was part of the Nursing Profession learning process under the guidance of Nur Arifah A., S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep., as the academic supervisor, and directly supervised by Ners Irma Firdiani Wahyuningtias, S.Kep., Ns., as the clinical supervisor.
The students educated patients’ families about the importance of patient safety during hospitalization. The material covered the definition of fall risk, factors that increase the risk of falls, methods for identifying patients at risk of falling, the potential consequences of falls, as well as prevention measures and the role of families in preventing patient falls.

In addition to delivering the educational material, the students also presented a video to provide a clearer illustration of fall prevention measures. Educational materials were complemented by leaflets that families could read again after the session, helping them remember the importance of preventing falls during the patient’s hospitalization.
Through this activity, patients and their families were expected to understand fall risks and implement appropriate preventive measures throughout the hospitalization period. Nursing Profession students hoped that the activity would support promotive and preventive efforts in nursing care while strengthening collaboration between healthcare professionals and families in the hospital environment.
