
NERS NEWS — Thursday, April 17, 2026 — The Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program of Universitas Muhammadiyah Pekajangan Pekalongan (UMPP) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga (Unair). This activity was organized as an effort to strengthen the quality of education and further develop the nursing specialist study program. Although previously hindered by time and circumstances, the visit was successfully carried out on April 17, 2026.
The visit was held in Meeting Room 2 of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, and was warmly welcomed by the leadership of the Faculty of Nursing along with the management team of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Study Program. The event was opened by the master of ceremonies in an orderly manner and continued with the presentation of the agenda for the day. Furthermore, the event continued with welcoming remarks from Dr. Sriyono as Vice Dean I. He expressed his gratitude and welcomed the representatives from UMPP who had traveled from afar, while hoping that this activity would bring positive benefits to both parties. The event then continued with a response speech by Dr. Mokhamad Arifin as Vice Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Pekajangan Pekalongan. On this occasion, he expressed his hope that UMPP would continue to grow and follow the path of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga.

After that, the event continued with a presentation session by Dr. Sriyono regarding the profile of Universitas Airlangga and its Faculty of Nursing. This session was followed by a presentation regarding the profile of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Specialist Program of Unair by Dr. Abu Bakar as Head of the Medical-Surgical Nursing Program. On this occasion, he conveyed many important points, ranging from learning methods to the requirements for opening a new study program.
At the peak of the event, the benchmarking session took place interactively through discussions and question-and-answer sessions, serving as a platform for exchanging information and experiences between institutions. Through this activity, it is hoped that sustainable synergy will be established between the two institutions in improving the quality of education, research, and community service in the field of specialist nursing. At the end of the event, both parties exchanged gifts as a token of appreciation for the visit that had been carried out.

This activity is one form of support provided by the Faculty of Nursing in realizing Universitas Airlangga SDG 4, namely “Quality Education.” Through the visit and discussions that have been carried out, it is hoped that both parties can contribute further to improving inclusive and highly competitive educational quality, as well as developing the best curriculum and learning systems. In addition, this development is expected to improve graduates’ competencies so they can adapt to scientific advancements and the needs of healthcare services at both national and international levels.
