FKp Unair Participates in International Continuous Nursing Education (ICNE) 3/2026, Strengthening Nursing Knowledge and International Collaboration

NERS NEWS — Wednesday, July 1, 2026 — The Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga (FKp Unair) once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing nursing science by participating in the International Continuous Nursing Education (ICNE) 3/2026, held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at the HUMS Auditorium. This international scientific forum served as a platform for academics, researchers, and nursing professionals to exchange knowledge and broaden their perspectives on the latest innovations and research findings in nursing practice.

The event commenced with participant registration, followed by an opening address delivered by the Head of the Department of Nursing, Ms. Sharinah Abd Kassim. From the outset, the atmosphere was warm and enthusiastic, reflecting participants’ strong interest in the diverse topics presented throughout the program. ICNE 3/2026 featured four scientific sessions covering current issues in nursing, including digital technology utilization, patient safety among older adults, chronic disease management, and health promotion through nursing interventions.

The first session featured Dr. Ika Yuni Widyawati, who presented “Digital Application as Information Service in Nutrition, Fluid, Physical Activity, Vascular Access, and Stress Management for Haemodialysis Patients.” She explained how digital technology can be utilized as a comprehensive health education platform for patients undergoing hemodialysis. Such applications provide information on nutritional management, fluid balance, physical activity, vascular access care, and stress management strategies, enabling patients to improve their self-management capabilities. The integration of digital technology is expected to become an innovative nursing approach that enhances the quality of life of individuals living with chronic kidney disease.

The second session was delivered by Dr. Elida Ulfiana, presenting “Safe Mobility Promotion for Older Adults in Hospital Settings.” This presentation emphasized the importance of safe mobility practices for hospitalized older adults. Maintaining mobility has been shown to preserve physical function, reduce the risk of falls, prevent functional decline, and accelerate recovery. Nurses therefore play a crucial role in assessing patients, providing education, and assisting older adults in performing safe mobility activities tailored to their clinical conditions.

Following a tea break, the program continued with Prof. Dr. Tintin Sukartini, who presented “Determinants of Self-Care Management Ability Among Patients with Pulmonary Tuberculosis with Diabetes Mellitus Comorbidity.” The presentation explored various factors influencing self-care management among patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and diabetes mellitus comorbidity. It highlighted that successful chronic disease management depends not only on medical treatment but also on patients’ knowledge, motivation, family support, and access to healthcare services. Strengthening patients’ self-care abilities is therefore essential for improving treatment adherence and preventing disease-related complications.

The final session was delivered by Dr. Rista Fauziningtyas, presenting “Nurse-led Mind-Body Exercise to Maintain Physical Aspect for Older Adults.” Participants were introduced to nurse-led mind-body exercise interventions as a promotive and preventive strategy for older adults. These exercises contribute not only to maintaining physical fitness but also to improving balance, flexibility, coordination, and overall quality of life. The session highlighted the significant role nurses play in developing health promotion programs that support well-being throughout the lifespan.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion and question-and-answer session. Participants actively engaged in discussions regarding the implementation of research findings, the application of innovative nursing interventions in healthcare settings, and challenges in advancing evidence-based nursing practice. Their enthusiasm reflected a strong commitment to continuously enhancing professional competencies through academic collaboration and knowledge exchange. The program ended with a summary of the sessions, the presentation of certificates and appreciation tokens to the speakers, a group photo session, and the official closing ceremony.

FKp Unair‘s participation in International Continuous Nursing Education (ICNE) 3/2026 is expected to broaden the academic community’s understanding of recent developments, research findings, and innovations in evidence-based nursing practice. Beyond strengthening professional competencies, the program also reinforces international collaboration among educational institutions, researchers, and healthcare professionals to advance nursing science. Furthermore, this initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-Being) through improving healthcare quality, SDG 4 (Quality Education) by promoting continuous nursing education, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering international collaboration in knowledge exchange, research, and innovation in healthcare.
