NERS NEWS — Tegalrejo Hamlet, Jarak Village, July 11, 2026. Gelar Bakti GEN Corps (GBGC) 2026 officially commenced with its Opening Ceremony, held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. (WIB) in the Jarak Village Hall. This community service program, initiated by students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, marked the beginning of a collaborative effort with the residents of Tegalrejo Hamlet to improve community health and strengthen disaster preparedness.
The GBGC 2026 Opening Ceremony began with welcoming remarks from the Chairperson of GBGC 2026, the President of GEN Corps 2026, and the Head of Jarak Village. During the ceremony, each speaker expressed hopes that the community service program would provide meaningful benefits to local residents while serving as an opportunity for students to apply their nursing knowledge, strengthen their social responsibility, and build sustainable relationships with the community.
The event involved students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, officials of Jarak Village, representatives of the local youth organization, and residents of Tegalrejo Hamlet. The opening ceremony was held at the Jarak Village Hall on Saturday, July 11, 2026, marking the official start of the various GBGC 2026 programs that would be implemented throughout the community service period.
The Head of Jarak Village expressed appreciation for the presence of the students from the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, who had chosen Tegalrejo Hamlet as the location for GBGC 2026. The community service programs, which focused on disaster management and mitigation, were considered highly relevant because Tegalrejo Hamlet is prone to landslides. Through these activities, the students were expected to provide health education, enhance community preparedness, and strengthen the capacity of local residents to respond to disaster risks.
Following the welcoming remarks, the committee introduced the GBGC 2026 work programs to the community. Various initiatives related to health promotion and disaster preparedness were presented as a demonstration of the students’ commitment to improving community resilience. The residents showed great enthusiasm by actively participating in an interactive discussion, sharing their responses, and asking questions about the implementation of the programs throughout the community service period.
Through this initiative, GBGC 2026 also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being by promoting community health education, and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals by fostering collaboration among university students, the village government, and the local community.
As a symbolic gesture marking the beginning of the community service program, the organizing committee and community representatives held a tumpeng-cutting ceremony. The event concluded with a group photo session before the participants continued with sowan, visiting residents’ homes to strengthen relationships and become familiar with the local community. In the afternoon, the committee also participated in a cupping therapy (bekam) training session as preparation for upcoming health-related programs within the GBGC 2026 series of activities.
Through the spirit of community service, GBGC 2026 is expected to make a positive contribution to the people of Tegalrejo Hamlet through various health promotion initiatives and disaster preparedness programs. The program represents a tangible implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of community service, while also supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
