NERS NEWS — Surabaya, (September 11) — Nursing Profession Education Program students of Group 11, Medical-Surgical Nursing Rotation, Batch 49, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, conducted a Hospital Health Education (PKRS) activity at the Grha Trimed Outpatient Clinic of Universitas Airlangga Hospital on Friday, September 11, 2026. The activity, which took place from 10:00–10:30 a.m. WIB, carried the theme “Recognize Heart Failure and How to Prevent Its Recurrence” and targeted patients and patients’ families at the Grha Trimed Outpatient Clinic of Universitas Airlangga Hospital.

The activity was supervised by Dr. Arina Qona’ah, S.Kep., Ns., M.Kep. as the academic advisor and Aprilia, S.Kep., Ns. as the clinical supervisor. Through this PKRS activity, students sought to provide health education to patients and families so that they could have a better understanding of heart failure, self-care, and various efforts that can be made to prevent recurrence and worsening of the condition.

The activity began with preparations consisting of group coordination, preparation of the SAP and materials, and preparation of educational media in the form of posters and leaflets. The health education was conducted through lectures and question-and-answer sessions to provide education while also providing participants with an opportunity to discuss. The education focused on recognizing heart failure, self-care, preventing recurrence, and warning signs that require immediate medical attention.

Heart failure is a condition in which the heart is unable to pump blood effectively to meet the body’s needs and can be characterized by shortness of breath, easy fatigue, swelling of the feet or legs, and weight gain due to fluid accumulation. Through this activity, patients and families were provided with an understanding of the importance of care and prevention so that the condition does not worsen.

The PKRS activity was carried out well, interactively, and in a conducive atmosphere. Participants followed the activity well and paid attention to the information presented, while all group members actively contributed to both the preparation and implementation. This activity is expected to help patients and families better understand heart failure and implement care and recurrence prevention efforts in their daily lives.
