NERS NEWS — On Friday, August 14, 2026, a health education activity was conducted through the Hospital Health Promotion Program (PKRS) in the IRNA 6A Graha Trimed Ward, RSKI. The activity, which took place from 10:00 to 10:25 a.m. WIB, was conducted by Nursing Profession students as a form of health education for patients and their families in the hospital environment. The education addressed the theme “Be Alert, Not Afraid! Recognize Breast Tumors. Save Yourself with SADARI,” which was chosen as an effort to increase public knowledge and awareness of the importance of maintaining breast health and conducting early detection of breast changes.
This health education activity aimed to provide easy-to-understand information about breast tumors, breast cancer, and the importance of early detection through SADARI or Breast Self-Examination. The theme “Be Alert, Not Afraid!” was chosen with the hope of providing the audience with an understanding that paying attention to breast health should not cause excessive fear. Instead, awareness is a form of concern for one’s own health. With sufficient knowledge, individuals are expected to become more aware of changes that occur in the breasts and know the appropriate steps to take when they find an abnormal condition.
The health education was conducted directly with the participation of patients and/or their families in the IRNA 6A Graha Trimed Ward, RSKI. The activity began with an opening and an introduction to the topic to be discussed, followed by the delivery of material on breast tumors and early detection efforts. The material was delivered using simple language so that it could be understood by the entire audience. During the presentation, participants were provided with information about the importance of recognizing breast conditions, paying attention to unusual changes, and understanding SADARI as one of the efforts that can be performed independently to increase awareness of breast health.
In addition to the presentation, the activity also included a question-and-answer session as a form of interaction between the educator and the audience. The session provided an opportunity for the audience to ask various questions about breast tumors, breast cancer, and early detection through SADARI. The discussion session made the health education not only a one-way activity but also a space for the audience to obtain further explanations about things they had not yet understood.
Throughout the activity, the audience showed great enthusiasm. This was demonstrated by the large number of questions asked after the material was presented. The audience showed high curiosity and interest in obtaining further information about breast cancer and how to recognize changes in the breasts. The audience’s active participation in asking questions became one of the indicators that the material presented was able to attract attention and stimulate participants to become more concerned about breast health.
This enthusiasm also showed that health education about breast tumors and breast cancer remains important information to provide to the community. Good knowledge can help individuals understand the importance of paying attention to their health and not ignoring changes that occur in their bodies. Through health education activities in the hospital environment, patients and their families not only receive information related to their current health conditions but also gain knowledge that can be applied in daily life after returning to their respective environments.
The health education was carried out smoothly from beginning to end. Although the activity was conducted within a relatively short period of 25 minutes, the audience continued to show good attention and involvement. The interaction during the question-and-answer session became a fairly active part of the activity because the audience had the opportunity to convey various things they wanted to know. This condition showed that health education activities can be an effective means of improving public understanding when the material is delivered communicatively and according to the needs of the audience.
Through the PKRS activity with the theme “Be Alert, Not Afraid! Recognize Breast Tumors. Save Yourself with SADARI,” it is expected that the audience will have a better understanding of breast health and the importance of early detection. The audience is also expected to increase their awareness of changes occurring in the breasts and not hesitate to consult healthcare professionals if they find unusual conditions. This activity also served as a form of contribution by students in providing promotive and preventive education to the community, particularly in increasing awareness of breast health.
Overall, the health education activity conducted in the IRNA 6A Graha Trimed Ward, RSKI, on Friday, August 14, 2026, ran well and received a positive response from the audience. The large number of questions raised during the activity indicated that the audience had a high interest in information about breast tumors and breast cancer. Through this health education, it is expected that the message “Be Alert, Not Afraid!” can be applied in daily life so that the community can become more concerned about breast health, conduct early detection through SADARI, and immediately seek assistance from healthcare professionals if they find any suspicious changes.
