UNAIR Nursing Students Host “Healthy and Cheerful” Integrated Health Post (Posyandu), Promoting Parental Awareness of Toddler Health and Development in Dukuh Sutorejo

NERS NEWS— Saturday, August 8, 2026 – The Posyandu Sehat Ceria: Healthy Toddler Competition was held by the Child and Toddler Working Group of the Community Practice Program, Nursing Professional Program, Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Airlangga, in Kalijudan. The activity took place at Posyandu Dahlia 1, RW 03, Tempurejo and was attended by toddlers aged 2–5 years accompanied by their parents or caregivers. The series of activities included measuring body weight and height/length, verifying Posyandu visit histories, a colorful ball-transfer game, and education on GTM (Gerakan Tutup Mulut), or food refusal behavior in children, for mothers of toddlers. The activity aimed to increase parents’ awareness of monitoring their children’s growth and health, making regular visits to Posyandu, and providing developmental stimulation through enjoyable activities.

The activity involved toddlers and their parents in a series of health assessments, games, and educational sessions. The colorful ball-transfer game was participated in by six toddlers as a form of developmental stimulation to improve motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and the ability to follow simple instructions. Education on GTM was also provided to mothers of toddlers as additional knowledge to help them address feeding difficulties in children. Throughout the activity, women cadres from RW 03 Tempurejo actively assisted and supported the implementation, allowing the entire series of activities to run smoothly.

The Head of Group 1, Nabila Putri Kusuma, stated, “Alhamdulillah, we have successfully carried out two programs so far, and today the Mother and Toddler Working Group activity went smoothly. There were also many toddlers who participated, and we provided education about GTM. We would like to thank the women cadres of RW 03 Tempurejo for their tremendous support and assistance, which helped ensure that the activity ran smoothly.”

Overall, the Posyandu Sehat Ceria activity was successfully conducted and received positive responses from toddlers, parents, and community health cadres. The activity is expected to increase families’ awareness of the health, growth, and development of toddlers, as well as encourage greater utilization of Posyandu as a facility for monitoring children’s health.
